General Announcements

Will any student who participated in the Mr. Winnacunnet competition, please see Mrs. Arsenault today.

Lip Sync is coming back to Winnacunnet! Any student who would like to participate in a Lip Sync Competition on Friday, Feb 24 needs to meet with Mrs. Arsenault immediately after school on Tuesday, February 14th for details! You can perform individually or as a group. We need representatives from each grade to participate. See Mrs. Arsenault with any questions.

Students continue to put items in their backpacks in the snack bar and lunch lines. Some do it and tell the cashier, others are stealing. Under NO conditions, should you put anything into your back pack or pocket before you present it to the cashier. Is it really worth the consequences?

Carnation Day will be here!!! Purchase a Carnation on Valentines Day for that special someone. On Tuesday, February 14th during all lunches in the dining hall. The Winnacunnet Hockey Team will be selling Carnations and home-made sugar cookies for $2.00 each which includes a FREE Valentine for you to give to that special someone. Come support your WHS Hockey Team on Valentines Day. Thank you!!!

At all lunches you may purchase Valentine candy grams to send to your friends. For just $2, less than a Hallmark greeting card, you can send your friends or someone special a note with a small bag of candy. Everyone loves getting candy, so brighten someone’s day! You may also purchase one from Ms. Seager in room D-114, during break or after school. Candy grams will be delivered at the end of block 5, so you need to know the teacher or room # of where your friends will be at that time. We’ll be taking orders until February 13, so don’t forget to bring in an extra $2.

February is SALE month at the school store. Everything is on sale for all Students & Staff. We will be having special deals each week throughout February. Open Tues - Fri lunches

There are donation boxes in the Library, Front Office and Facilities Office to collect supplies for the NHSPCA a homeless shelter in Stratham for Animals"

Bracelets for Dafur fundraiser are available in the library for $1.00.

The library is hosting a 6 Word Memoir contest. The theme is "Six Words on Love & Heartbreak". The random winner will be chosen on Feb 14th, Valentines Day, and receive a Gas or iTunes card. Forms available in the library. Entrants may also choose to be published in Litmag.


Community Service Opportunity

The job & community service board is located in the D wing outside of Room D102. Come take a look at the many opportunities coming in weekly!

Course selection for the 2012-2013 school year has begun. The Program of Studies Guide will be available on the website. There will be links to courses with applications. Please make an appointment to see your counselor to pick your options for next year.


Scholarships

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship - National program awards scholarships to seniors who embody the characteristics of President Ronald Reagan at school, in the community, in the workplace, and at home. Due February 17, 2012 Apply on-line at: www.reaganfoundation.org/scholarships

Asthmna and Allergy Foundation of America - Senior who has asthma or significant allergies, who have attained a level of excellence in academic and/or extra-curricular activities. Due February 29, 2012

Joe Cleres Memorial Scholarship - Scholarship program is open to anyone who has a disability, either mentally or physically challenged. There is no financial qualification. Due March 1, 2012

John B,. Andrews Scholarship Program - Scholarship is open to children of NH municipal, school, county, and village district employees and officials of any unit of local government that is a member/participant in New Hampshire Local Government Center Services. A minimum of 10 scholarships in the amount of $750 will be awarded statewide. Due March 9, 2012

New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters - Applicants should plan to enroll in an accredited two or four year college with a major or intention of studying over-the-air broadcasting. Due March 30, 2012

Norman B. Sherwood Scholarship Fund - Osgood Lodge #48 is offering scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000, depending on need. If interested in obtaining a scholarship, please request an application from: Glenn Payne, 2A Kerri Lane, Hooksett, NH 03106 Due April 1, 2012

Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship - Renewable, 4-year scholarships to students with financial need who display academic excellence, a commitment to serving others in school, the community, or at home, and a strong work ethic. Applicants should have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate skilled writing ability. Due May 1, 2012

New Hampshire Teachers of Mathematics - Applicant has been accepted to a fully accredited college or university and plans to major in mathematics or mathematics education with the intent of becoming a mathematics teacher. Clubs & Activities

There will be a Dance Team meeting in Ms. D’Amico’s office on today during break.

In preparation for the Poetry Out Loud school championship on February 16, there will be a practice sessions for all Poetry Out Loud classrooms Tuesday February 14 in Room D109. Please see Mrs. Persechino or Mrs. Rodgers if you have any questions.

Attention math team members: If you are interested in participating in the state math meet held at Plymouth State University on March 20th – a full day field trip- you should attend an informational meeting Monday February 13 afterschool in room B204. If you are unable to attend, please see Mrs. Bauer or Ms Rhoades no later than Monday the 13th.

Class of 2012 - Seniors

Chem-Free would like to invite all seniors who are interested in designing a 2012 Chem-Free t-shirt logo. The winner of the contest will also receive a cash price! For instructions, please go see Mrs. Berry in room A119. Get involved and let's make Chem-Free the best we can for the 2012 Seniors!

The Senior Class is running a “Device Drive” for an open ended amount of time. All faculty, students, and staff are welcome to donate any used or broken electronics, such as old phones or cameras! Drop off boxes are in the library, front office and teacher work rooms. PLEASE help your seniors out, and for any questions ask the senior advisors or staff.
